Our Pastors

Pastor Annette Smith

Pastor Annette took her first breath in Lunenburg County and grew up here. She studied Religious Studies and History and received her Bachelor of Arts at Mount Saint Vincent University.

She continued her studies at Waterloo Lutheran Seminary (now Martin Luther University College) where she earned her Master of Divinity and was ordained as a Lutheran pastor in 1988. During her more than thirty years of ministry Pastor Annette has served as a parish pastor in several parishes in southern and eastern Ontario and as a campus chaplain.

Her leadership has extended beyond the parish into youth ministry
and outdoor ministry both synodically and nationally, as well as serving as Conference Dean and Ministry Area Dean.

Pastor Annette is happy to return to the South Shore in this model of shared ministry. The church is an ever-evolving community of faith and it is exciting to participate in new and creative expressions of living out our calling as disciples.

Our worship and witness thrives when we lean into the light of the truth of the gospel. Pastor Annette is so thankful for the spirit of creativity and hope for our ministry together here.

Pastor Victoria Featherston

Baptized and confirmed at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church,
Ridgeway, Ontario, Pastor Victoria Featherston (they/them), is a lifelong Lutheran. They are passionate about preaching and teaching the Gospel, pastoral care, social justice, ecumenical and interfaith work, youth and young adult ministry, and liturgical art in worship.

In their spare time, they enjoy hiking, singing, playing piano, nature photography, knitting, reading, and devotional practices.
They received their Honours Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from
Wilfrid Laurier University in 2012, their Master of Arts in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy from Martin Luther University College in 2019, and their Master of Divinity from Martin Luther University College in 2023.
They were ordained by Bishop Michael Pryse on March 10, 2024.
They are excited to journey alongside the congregations in the South Shore Lutheran Shared Ministry and explore new possibilities of being the church in the world through community outreach both in current initiatives and in meeting the Gospel in a changing context.

They believe that God’s expansive love and mercy lives in every person regardless of who they are and that we are invited to come along in ways that are different and exciting. They look forward to continuing to meet the people in varying contexts and learning about their history and traditions, and growing in
their faith through nature on the East Coast.
